I played the tune last night at a jam. It was great, the guy I was fiddling with knew the tune, I didn't. He was fiddling very strong and I was amazed at what a difference volume and enthusiasm have on a jam and being able to follow another fiddler. Kinda worked this version on the spot. I wanted to put a track down before I forgot it!

This is one of a few tunes I enjoy playing that go by the "hornpipe" name, but is it a true hornpipe or a reel? Too inexperienced to judge, so if you know let me know! I've also gotta start recording these earlier in the day (it sounds rough). Cheers, Ivar

Recorded tonight. I've been playing just a hair over a year now, the last six months seriously, and I have to say I like the progress. Cheers, Ivar

Another fine D tune played in C. Much more soulful (almost depressing) this way. This particular version is borrowed from David Lynch, who taught me the two different phrasings at the end of each B part. David's a cool dude.

A slow (think: funeral precession) version of Flora's Eighth demonstrating the nice tone of the key of C as cross-tuned. Wish I could say the same for the quality of the player! Ivar

Recorded tonight. I played banjo to this tune last night (Adam Tanner and John Hermann were on fiddle) and it sounded like a good one to learn. I found an obscure Henry Reed version that I had, but the sound was pretty bad. The Digital Library of Appalachia had one from a fiddler I had not heard of. Recorded in 1976, I recall. I started on this tune this morning, and I am having an easier time of learning tunes of late. Cheers, Ivar.

A bit of a false start but I learned this tune in about an hour. Getting faster picking up tunes. There should be more bow push at the end of the A section, but I'll work on that later... Ivar
