Georgia tune I learned from Jack Spence in Atlanta some years ago. Key of G, standard tuning (GDae). Skillet Lickers are another great reference for this one too. Just changed my strings for Friday's show. Love this AT 2020 USB mic too!

This is one of the few tunes that has kept its figure in both old time and celtic versions. In the whistle versions and Christian Wig's version (from his very nice Lost Indian cd) most folks play the B part only once, but I decided to do it twice as we usually play our tunes as dance tunes. This is recorded with my new Audio Technica 2020 USB which I have just started using. Hope you enjoy it.

Okay, I was playing with Frank Moore today. Out back of the house. We got our Yuma winter back so that means sunny and in the 70’s today which means Time To Play! So we’re playing lots of cool tunes, Pig Ankle Rag, McMitchen’s Reel (aka Hog Trough Reel); Trot Along My Honey; even the old fiddle version of Durang’s Hornpipe when I start playing this tune. I never played it before and can’t even come up with a name so help us out here. If you got the name, let me know by email. I’ll post it once I figure it out. Hope I remember it to play at the dance next week in Tucson! Play Nice, Dan OKAY! The HangOut comes through. It's been named. Thanks to fiddlepogo and OT Junky. Thanks folks.

AKA Y. Z. Hamilton's Breakdown. This is a loop of me playing three times through this wonderful tune. This tune was originally recorded in about 1926 by Y. Z. Hamilton and his recording of it is available on the compilation album "Possum Up A Gum Stump" which is a collection of Alabama tunes.

Great source of controversy, this tune is played in the style of Edden Hammons with the parts (aabb) organized both as he and Burl played them. I too once learned and played the festival version of this one but fell in Love with the subtleties and trills of Edden's version. It almost hurts anymore to hear the "other" version especially when folks leave so many notes out of even that basic one. This tune can be found on my "Traveling Home" cd which you can order at my website - www.OldTimeMusic.us

Introducing the Dan Levenson Trio! A new direction where I play fiddle or clawhammer banjo and am joined by guitar and bass. The guitar player here is long time Boiled Buzzard Annie Trimble with Greg Gendall on bass. These tunes are from Kenner Kartchner - a fiddler from Snowflake, AZ born in the late 1800's.
