Mary Jo Murray requested this one. I plan to include it on CHR VOL 6, so here is a preview. This is the way I recall the tune. I always used the 1st spelling- Garry has it by the 2nd. That's the correct one no doubt. For a long while I had this title attached to the tune Indian Corn due to an old tape tune list transcription error. Some of you may have heard me play that as Ol's tune. Not so, this is really it. Both may be found in Dear Old Illinois.

Thou dost imply that there be CHR Volumes 1 though 5. Are there CDs available of your recordings? If so, then how does one go about procuring said CDs?

the tune on the Fiddle-L Anthology titled Ol' Woodard's Tune is really Indian Corn?

Track 20 on Folksongs of Ill #20 with Chirps, Stephanie Coleman and Paul Tyler is also really Indian Corn?

Maybe you should post Indian Corn - I like it a lot. :-)

Yes, Indian Corn was mistakenly called Ol' Woodard's by me for many years. This one here is really Ol' Woodard's. The one on Folksongs of IL & Fiddle Anthology, Vol. 2 is Indian Corn. It's a tune from Willie O. Ault (Hidalgo, IL) collected 1/1/1978. It's No. 112 in Dear Old Illinois.

Indian Corn is a great tune!! Don't know how long it will take me to call it by it's right name!

Just kidding.

I know it without a title! I bet I have it on some Bluff Coutnry tapes also.

I think you play Indian Corn slightly differently than Garry wrote it, especially the A part. Chords seem the same. I like it your way. I have no recording of Garry H playing it so I am not certain exactly how that would sound in his hands. More to the point, is there a recording of W O Ault to listen to?

My versions are my own. I really never have tried to get tunes exactly like whatever source- just close, and I am sure they morph over time. :-)
As I recall I got it from an old cassette tape that a buddy of mine made of Garry Harrison in 1982- not sure however. If Mr. Ault's version is not on the DOI CDs it isn't generally available.
