Recorded in the early 1990's pretty much live, without any overdubs or edits, in my studio, FiddleFantastick. My son, Jesse, is playing my father's old no-name fiddle which was obtained in the 1930's from former PA state senator Russell Letterman's family by my grandfather. My father said, "It was really old, even back then." In a real "Twist of Fate" kind of thing I ended up teaching the grandson of the former owner of my dad's old fiddle some 50 or more years later! He is now playing in a C & W band somewhere in central PA. I am playing an old 1948 000-17 Martin guitar behind Jesse.

This is an old file from 2007 in E flat. It's one of my favorite airs / laments from Scotland. This tune formed the background for a tribute video I made when my dad died and I played it at his funeral.

This is the tune referenced in "plucking the fiddle" learned in the late 70's or early 80's from Elmer Shaffer. Elmer, who lived in Millheim, PA, was a fairly well-known Country and Bluegrass fiddler in a very local way with a lot of fans, mostly in Penns Valley. I recorded it in 2004 for a student based on a tribute cassette of his music made by his family when Elmer died. So this is an accurate version of his version of the tune.

The Mighty Canon, my clerical set, with Jamie O'Brien on guitar. Recorded at FiddleFantastick Studio back in the 90's. Never made it past the demo stage 'cause Jamie moved to Tuscon, AZ!
