Hobart Smith tune. I play it on a fretless Frank Proffitt type banjo, built by that wonderful Danish craftsman Povl-Erik Larsen, who can make anything out of something. Tuning is (5th to 1st) F#ADad, only a lot deeper

Chinquapin Pie, as inspired by Hobart Smith. Recorded on the Revox in 2001. Banjo first (I guess normal open A) and fiddle next (AEAE) - and then a simple guitar (A-chords +)

Quick sketch on old Revox-recorder for next Possum Whackers CD ...(released next spring, we reckon - first CD "All Young" available now at CDBaby). Banjo first (open A, next guitar - and last fiddle (ADAE). Learned tune form listening to Edden Hammons.

Quick sketch (I can do better than this) for next Possum Whackers CD (next spring). I first laid a Clawhammer on one track of my old Revox - and added the fiddle afterwards. My banjo is an Orphum No. 3 Special (probably of 1930-vintage). Tuned in open G. My fiddle is tuned GDAD (4th to 1st)

Johnson Boys, again recorded on the old Revox (while it was still in shape). First banjo (aDADE) & then fiddle (ADAE). Goes a little too fast for my present taste, but can't change that now ;-)

Piney Ridge (W.H.Stepp) recorded on my ancient Revox 4-track machine. Instruments are: Fiddle, tuned (4rd to 1st) D D A D (4th string one octave below 3rd, also used for Bonaparte's Retreat) - and a 4 string Bouzuki bought on the Greek island of Samos a couple of years ago (well, not quite Oldtimey, but it almost sounds like a Mountain Dulcimer). Tunings may not be to 440 standard, as I'm not particular when doing sound-on-sound recordings for fun - as long as the instruments are in tune between them

Pretty Polly, as recorded in 2001 on my old Revox. First did the banjo (Mountain Minor in A) and next the fiddle (AEAE)
