In November 2008 I started my third attempt at playing the fiddle and bought fidlle 1 (see photo's). It has a wide grain top and a rather plain maple back.
One of the first things I bought after that was a new manikara bow. But when compairing bows an old Glasser fiberglass bow I still had seemed the easiest bow to use.
In November/December 2009 I bought two fiddles via Ebay from Yita Music. The first one is fiddle 2 (see photo's). It has a nice narrow grainded top and nicely flamed back and sides. this one is loud and has a bit of nasal sound. Since these are not very expensive fiddles it gives me the opportunity to work on them and learn along the way (moving soundpost, cutting a new bridge etc.). I also bougth a new carbon fiber silver braided bow.
I'll still have to make photo's of fiddle 3. It looks like fiddle 2 but a little bit darker.
Both fiddles came with a brazilwood bow.
With 3 fiddles and 5 bows to choose from (not bad for a beginner isn't it?) I still like fiddle 1 most. It has a nice warm soud and one of the brazilwood bows seems to fit this fiddle. The other fiddles could improve with a better set-up and all fiddles would benifit greatly with much more playing skills from my side :) but I'm working on that too.
