Occupation: Retired from Higher Educ., former commun. coll. pres.

My Instruments:
Own and Play: Clawhammer Banjos, Fiddles, Guitars, Bass (Marimbula as well as Upright), Mandolins, Hammered Dulcimers. Jam and gig frequently -- usually well over 40-50 jams and gigs per year. I've been playing Clawhammer with seriousness since 2007, guitar since 1963, fiddle and hammered dulcimer since 2011, not so much Ham. Dulc. anymore. Have had to give up jams and gigs during this covid time we're living in.
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Too many to list, but all of them are Old Time fiddle and banjo players, contemporary as well as source / historically significant musicians.

Primarily interested in playing Old Time, Southern Appalachian style. Not so much Bluegrass, Celtic, Cajun, Texas Swing, New England, Cape Breton, etc., though I respect, very much appreciate, and often listen to the playing of others who enjoy playing in those genres. I prefer that Traditional Old Time Appalachian Round Peak Fiddle style, with all its drones, "scratchiness," cross tunings, and strong rhythmic bowings. Though I can play in Standard Tuning, I much prefer various Cross Tunings to achieve that Old Time Appalachian sound. Also on the Banjo Hangout with the same username.
