Come to MooseJaw! Old-Time dance/music weekend in nowhere MN!

Wednesday, February 9, 2011

 Hi!

Please check out the Wild Goose Chase Clogger's music and dance weekend, MooseJaw! It is a three day weekend event held at Maplelag cross country ski resort in Detroit Lakes MN.

Come dance to the calling of Nancy Mamlin and the classic old-time sound of the legendary Chirps Smith on fiddle and Steve Rosen on banjo. Swing the night away with Minnesota-based Rusty Swingset! Fiddler Betsy Neil, guitarist Brian Neil, bassist Mark Gunderson and lap-slide guitarist Gary Powell.

Workshop offerings will include fiddle, banjo, guitar, bass, singing and many dance forms. ThereÕs also miles of beautiful cross-country skiing, the sauna and hot tub, all the hot coffee you could imagine, and of course, a bottomless cookie jar.

MooseJaw is famous for its Saturday night costume ball, and this year's theme is Dr. SeussJaw ! Let the costuming begin! Questions about the event?

Meghan Dudle started classical violin when she was five years old in the Chicagoland area, performing in Midwest Young Artists Symphony Orchestra and other orchestras and quartets. After experiencing The Freighthoppers one hot August MBOTMA festival, she put down her classical violin and started to study Appalachian, blues and hillbilly swing fiddle in 2000. Before joining Kari Larson and Lisa Schultz of The DitchLilies in 2003, she played country blues fiddle with Lonesome Dan Kase as well as playing with the old-time duo, The Phonola Winders, with New Bad Habit’s Tim Foss. Somewhere in between the years, she learned rhythm guitar and harmony singing. Playing fiddle with The Ditchlilies from 2003-2008, she has shared festival stages with Pete Seeger, The Dirk Powell Band, The Everybodyfields, Lost Bayou Ramblers, Hunger Mountain Boys, Dale Ann Bradley, and Valerie Smith and Liberty Pike. Her new album puts together a wide variety of classic American fiddle tunes alongside original compositions and songs. She continues to break many a horse hair playing for square dances around the Midwest and dances and choreographs with the internationally known clogging group, The Wild Goose Chase Cloggers.
