Well, my intent was to blog my first six months of learning, since this seems to be the biggest learning curve, so here I am one day away from my 5th month of learning. Unlike my last entry, I do think I really came on the last month. I seem to be starting to catch on when I am a bit flat or sharp on a note and I am actually able to sing a bit as I am playing. Not even a month ago, I could not do this at allllll. My tune list is really starting to pick up some steam too. There are about 10 tunes I have totally memorized and about 30 tunes that I can play with some sheet music in front of me. I still sound like a newbie, mainly because my intonation still is not real good at all. I tried the mirror thingy to try and figure out my bowing. Well, when I looked at the mirror, I automatically moved my bow, so that method did not help, buttt today I think I have found a solution. I have ran the audio/video cords from my camera to my tv. BINGO I can sit the camera next to me and watch myself play on the tv in front of me. To me , this was a much better approach, because it is no different then looking at the sheet music that I normally have in front of me. It didnt take long at all to notice I have no wrist action whatsoever and I bow as crooked as a camels back. So this is what I will try and get fixed before my 6 month review. I think I will try BJs door jam excercise for the wrist, and as for the bow, I think I read where one person said you need to knda pull away because you naturally pull the bow in a circular motion...somethink like that. Ok , off to practice before I type myself into a coma.

Just remember it's all in the wrist. And the wrist can move laterally as well as vertically. That's where the parallel to the strings thing comes from.

Oh, and sing while you're playing? Sheesh, I STILL can't do that, but I'm determined to!
