Glory in the Meeting House Irish Roots?

Posted by jpear on Monday, January 18, 2016

I'm doing a project on if there are Irish roots to kentucky tunes - in general and/or specifically to Glory in the Meeting House which I play and is recorded by Luther Strong.

If anyone can give me some info about this I would appreciate this a lot!

You could try <tunepal.org/tunepal/index.php>.

There was a member here once upon a time named Jimmy Feodosia.
He plays Old Time, but was also interested in Canadian fiddling.
He said he made or found (I forget) recordings of Irish immigrant fiddlers on the Gaspe Peninsula that sounded surprising like Kentucky crossed tuned fiddling, partly because they played in cross tunings. I think I heard some of the recordings and agreed with him.
