like this

I have been home for 9 months now. I think my reintegration has been fairly successful. The wife and I are getting along famously. Most of the day I have the house to myself, so I fiddle  (a LOT) read, and putz with small scale repairs to the dwelling, interspersed with yard work in good weather. But the really gratifying part of it all is that the musicians in town have been very welcoming. Last week for example,on Sunday  there was a small jam at a brand new friends house, Monday I got together with Strokestyle and What's His Name at their house for a couple of hours. Thursday was the regular community OT jam at the Food COOP. Friday our band played for the Urbana Country Dancers Contra. Saturday a friend from the thursday night jam hosted a jam party...with lots of pie!Typically I attend 2 events like that in a week, but from what I read there are folks out there that are lucky to get to one every once in a while. I am a most fortunate man.

But...then there's the weather. Saturday night, during and after the pie-athon, we had snow that officially accumulated over 8 inches of the stuff (I had 10 in my driveway). lots of shovelling snow. Freezing rain forcast tonight on top of it all. YUK! Just for the record, there has been WAY too much zeroish weather, too. I am NOT readapting well to midwestern  winter weather.

Overall, though, life is good.

Welcome back to the land of the wind chill factor! I agree - there HAS been WAY too much zeroish weather.

It's been a cold winter in Illinois, hasn't it? Biting winds here in Chicago. But, in two weeks, I will be boarding a train with a one way ticket to Southern California. Looking forward to thawing out my old bones in the west coast sun! : )
