My wife and I visited Buenos Aires last week. We had to go to the embassy to get my sons social security number, file taxes and also prepare some thing for my wifes permanent work visa as we are returning to the states. While there, I got to play the fiddle with others for the first time. It was more old time music than bluegrass, but great fun. I think I did pretty well. Two of my fiddle friends came. One lent me their German Hopf fiddle from the turn of the century to play and enjoy while there. It was a really nice old fiddle...very nice. Also, another friend gave me an extra shoulder rest he had to keep and use. I've discovered I really like the shoulder rest quite a bit. It frees up my left hand from having to grip the neck hardly at all and I think it helps my intonation. I had a great time, such wonderful friends.

Yeah it was a first for me with the fiddle, although I didnt have my fiddle, I left it at home. They all offered to lend me theirs so I obliged....I had a great time. The shoulder rest really is nice. I wasnt sure I'd like it but I see and feel benefits.
