I still am waiting for my friend to show up to put the final touches on my new Stradella fiddle. He has fashioned a new nut for my fiddle out of an old ebony violin peg so we can cut the new nut slots wider and also lower the bridge just a little bit more....then my fiddle will be ready and a bit easier to play. For now being a bit rebellious and playing with AEAE tuning and "Rye Whiskey/Drunken Hiccups" and it doesn't sound too great yet but at least it's recognizable. Also practicing the "Nashville Shuffle" and trying to play....

I watched your youtubes. Bow is running in the right place, nice straight pulls. Rye Whiskey/Drunken Hiccups is played with the high E tuned down to C#.

Yep. It's a cool haunting sound and the same tuning used for Black Mountain Rag

should make for some interesting double-stops....
I appreciate the comment about my bowing! My bow is already starting to get rumples in it...I hope it lasts :( I need to get the nut replaced as well. Once I do that and put the final touches on the bridge, I think it will be easier to play than it is now. Right now, the spaces between the strings are so cramped on the fingerboard if I try to play unisons or double-stops, the backside of my finger lightly brushes against the next string and creates some weird sounds LOL
