Today was another Eureka Day!
My teacher has been after me for months to "mix it up". He was talking about bowing patterns, namely sawstroke, potatoes shuffle and georgia shuffle. It seems that until this morning I had trouble doing that. It was like there was an on/off switch, and either the whole song got shuffled or I didn't shuffle at all, either the whole song was done in georgia or I didn't georgia at all. And there seemed to be no way to find that middle ground.
Well, I don't know what happened this morning during practice, but from the start of my song practice, I just started mixing it up without thinking about it. And I could always get back to the right bow direction when I did that by simply throwing in one of the tricks to get things goijng the right direction again. Up until this morning this would throw a sucker punch in my gut and stop my playing cold, with me frustrated as all hell
Maybe it's because I was just playing without thinking. Could it be that the skills are *** finally *** starting to stick well enough so that I can finally take this to the next level, without having to mentally micromanage every last little movement of bow and fingers?
I hope to hell so.
And I have a feeling my evening practice is gonna be a long and enjoyable one.
