Ward Allen
Best of Ward Allen (2-GRT 2230-1031) Two LP set.
Maple Leaf Hoedown Vol. 2 (GRT SP 210) LP, probably early 1960's.
Memories of Ward Allen (MAPL 08-29) Independent CD release sold by Anne Allen.  Sold by Legend Records on eBay.
Memories of Ward Allen Vol. 2 (MAPL 08-29) Independent CD release sold by Legend Records on eBay.

Allen Street String Band
WANTED: Illinois Shortcuts (1985) cassette
WANTED: In Good Company
(1987) cassette
Thumpin' On A Well-Rope
(Marimac 9406, 1991) bootleg CD.

Nathan Abshire
Nathan Abshire & the Pine Grove Boys: very poor quality CD(skips a lot) but great tunes.  Terrific, wild version of "Danse de Mardi Gras".  Hard to find; try Floyd's Record Shop.

Balfa Toujours

A Vielle Terre Haute (1995)
Deux Voyages (1996)
La Pointe (1998)
Live at Whiskey River Landing (2000) Excellent sound quality for a live recording, in addition to great tunes.
Pop, Tu Me Parles Toujours (1994) Early, less sophisticated recording, but still very good.

Battlefield Band
(also see "Alasdair White")
Celtic Hotel (1987).  Oh, yeah, well, I dare you to find me another rock band that fiddles that well!

Well - this is a good idea...

What's your plan - listing the top 20, listing what you're currently listening to, or listing your library?

Not sure yet.  Eventually, they'll all be on there (sort of like the practice list) but I don't know if it will be in one post or not.  I'll probably end up breaking them up because, now that I look at it, it's going to be a heck of a long blog entry.

Great list!  Sure is a way to track your taste over time and/or to see "holes" in you collection.

Noticed that you have J.Scott Skinner's recordings. I got the LP long ago and can't believe what I'm hearing. Just phenominal!

What are some of the tunes are on your Allen St. recording?
