Bluegrass fiddle Novice age 69

Posted by Geoff Cropper on Tuesday, October 22, 2013

Hi Everyone,     Ever since I heard Flatt & Scrugs in the early 60's, I've been a fan of bluegrass fiddle music.        Yes, I know its a bit late in the day at 69 to start learning fiddle, but I'd like to do it before I get old.         I bought a student fiddle kit last week and I've sent for a book and cd from the States so I can't wait to get started.      I'm also watching all the teaching vids on youtube.         Regards  Geoff.

Atta boy,'re never too old to get into mischief (contrary to what my wife tells me). Have the best of fun with it and enjoy the journey. A "fiddle mentor" can help, if you're lucky enough to find one. Keep us posted on your progress, joys, and heartbreaks.
Best of luck to you, and your journey!

Many thanks Lawrence for your encouraging comments. Isn't it strange how every time I go to the back room to practice, my wife wants me to do something for her. I think this journey might be a long one somehow, but I will plod on. The violin teachers over here seem to frown on the word "Fiddle" and have never heard of Bluegrass. Best regards, Geoff.
