Last Sunday afternoon, the drum guy at the store showed me how to do a paradiddle, and I've been working on it ever since. It's analogous to both Nashville and Georgia Shuffle in that it is a natural for accenting the back beat IF you want to, and it's like Nashville Shuffle in that you need to do the same thing, but reversed.... first right-right-left-right, then left-left-right-left. It's finally starting to gel a little bit.
Aside from the polka rhythm I first started out with, I have kind of a swingy groove I really like, and also a rock groove. Between those three and the paradiddle, I have plenty to keep me occupied for a practice session.
AND.... I've dropped a whole notch in my belts from the extra exercise- YES!!!

Before you know it I'll be seeing you in some punk band slamming out these paradiddles and screaming, "YEEESSSSSSSSSSSSS!"

Would the young punks put up with a 61 year old punk???
