(Reprinted from the "Clifftop Stories" thread) This is a story in which Clifftop is only on the periphery. A week before Clifftop I was asked if I was available to play with our quasi_Irish bar band on Aug. 3. I said I'd be driving back from Clifftop that day, so no promises. I made it back in plenty of time to play our gig, which was for the Democratic Governor's Assn. I guess there were a bunch of 'govs' in Milwaukee for a convention. The DGA had rented out a big classy Irish bar downtown for a party. So towards the end of our 2nd set, this dude comes up who wants to sing a song with us. Wearing a casual sweatshirt & jeans, he was pretty unassuming. One song led to two, then three, and a fourth. He wasn't bad. The next day I happened to find out that the mystery singer was Governor Mark O'Malley of Maryland.
