Michael Finds His Electric Guitar Tone- NOT a Good Thing for Fiddling!

Posted by fiddlepogo on Monday, May 20, 2013

A new Guitar Center opened in our town not too long ago.  While I've checked it out, I've mostly avoided buying anything, especially anything the small local shops have.  I LIKE the small local shops, and their prices really are competitive to Guitar Center.

Also, the index finger problem has brought acoustic guitar G.A.S. to a screeching halt.

I can still play electric however.

Anyway, I was looking around at Guitar Center, and in the pedal section I saw a Danelectro Transparent Overdrive v2!!!  For ONLY $30!!!  I HAD to try it, so the next day I brought my guitar and pedalboard to GC, and sure enough, it was MAGICAL!  Definitely not a duplicate of anything I already have.  And none of the other stores in town carries Danelectro pedals.

So I bought it, and it sounds SO good with my little Fender Champion 600, that I've been neglecting the fiddle.... and also partly because I'm really not liking the synthetic strings that much... they feel too bouncy under the bow.

I think the last time I played before today was LAST WEDNESDAY.... NOT GOOD!

I did practice a bit today on the fiddle before the gig.  It didn't go TOO badly considering, but it really wasn't my best, for sure!

For my next string move I'm seriously thinking of going to Prim Lights.  I'm hoping they'll sound and feel like steel strings but a little easier on the left hand fingers.

Black Diamonds will fix the string thing(the 7 dollar ones) nuthin sounds fiddler than steel strings(you know this) and black diamond uses real bobwire in theirs. Whats going to happen when we can't git em. Better stock up while ya can.
