I just got the Zoom H2 I ordered, so I'd be able to record at fiddle camp. I can't believe I paid more for this thing than I paid for either of my good fiddles! Actually, if you don't include shipping on the fiddles I paid more for this dang recorder than the cost of my two fiddles combined. That's just nuts.
Now I have to learn how to use this thing . . . Looks like I'll (eventually) be able to post some sound files so you can all hear how awful I am. :)

Actually, bj, I'm looking forward to hearing you.
You are a very astute observer of things fiddle-ish and cat-ish,
and those powers of observation are probably helping.
Plus you have a good teacher, it seem.
Yes, they ARE expensive, those recorders...
that's why they are only a wish for me...
but it's not like I really need one- I can record plenty well on
my computer, it's just not portable... but I haven't gone to any festivals, and can learn plenty of tunes, more than I can handle.

I could never get enough volume recording directly into the computer via the crappy computer microphone, though I admit to being el stupido when it comes to audio and video recording software. I can use it but I am far from an expert at it, which is really funny since I'm usually the go to person for computers and software and things webby.
I think the Zoom will be good, once I've learned to use it. I've needed it for other things as well (like recording Suze and Me so I can work on fiddle parts for the songs we both write.)
Re your looking forward to hearing me. I'm flattered, but I hope your expectations aren't very high. I am, after all, a rank beginner still.
