I just got back from a visit to see my in-laws in San Diego. And I had a rare opportunity to attend a jam session (usually I get there too late or I'm too early). My thanks go out to Pattie & Glen for hosting and to Kris Spalding for helping me with directions & introductions. It was also good to meet Barb (irfiddler), Jerry, & Nancy and a few others.
The San Diego old-time community is small, but jams like this one will make those who are kind of in the beginning stages want to get out to play with others. I wouldn't characterize this as a slow jam necessarily (although they'll play as slow or as fast as you want to) because they were taking on some challenging tunes & doing good things with them. Evening Shade (Arthur Smith), Walking My Pretty Girl Home, and even a real crooked Kentucky tune I forgot the name of (Coal Harbor or something like that?)
It's so nice when you can go somewhere and feel like you're among friends!

Hi Bruce! It was great to meet you. Since you left, we now have a new fast paced jam at a local restaurant. There were 36 people at the inaugural jam last week. The joint was rockin'
Next time you come to San Diego - or any other FHO or BHO members - let us know and we'll roll out the red carpet:) Barb
