New Year, new things...

Posted by MOFiddlin on Wednesday, January 9, 2013

I deleted most of my mp3 tunes, probably will take down the other two as well. Besides most of those were terrible. It is a new year of exploring, discovering, and getting better in the best way I can by playing of course. But also delving into a bit more of music theory and reading music. Those are a few goals I have. But I don't really want to over do it and over think it either.  I don't want my head so full of stuff that I forget how much I love fiddle and it becomes a job. No way...

My intentions are to have more fun and learn what I haven't yet.  So new year, new tunes, but not forget the one;s I learned either. I practice them often. I'll stick with mostly OT, but I will also explore other genres because it can only help me right? I want to go into more BG so my brother and I can play more tunes together as well as jams and we talked about someday recording some stuff, original and traditional, so that would be really exciting and cool.

Cajun seems fun, Always loved Irish tunes, Scottish and some Blues and Waltzes. (I know a waltz isn't exactly a genre, but I've not yet learned one)Not sure how far I'll get, but that's part of the journey of this or any other instrument. Discovery and challenge.

Over and out...

Sounds like a good plan John, though I'm sorry to hear you're deleting your tunes. Exploring new genres can be a lot of fun, esp BG where you can play with your brother...always more fun to play music with others.
Just keep it "fun" and you will do just fine. Go at your own pace, do what you want, when you want...and enjoy the journey. Best of luck!

Don't worry, I'll put up new tunes. Working on Durang's Hornpipe so I'll post that one sometime soon.
