Over on the forum, I posted a couple of photos of the new viola. The Del Gesu copy suffered a set-back, requiring that I make a new top-- which I did. it will probably be completed in January, now, I would imagine.
The viola became a higher priority, because I had a violist who really liked my work but the ones i had that she liked were too big for her. I am hoping that this one fits the bill a little better. It is a 15-3/4 (actually 15-5/8"), and the one she really liked was a 16-5/8". The tone is not the same as the larger one, but I can tell that it is opening up even in the hour or so that i have played it, so I have hopes that it will prove a good instrument at least, and maybe good enough for this young professional.
