Yes, I have taught people before who have a really hard time with learning how to play but a lot of the time those are the people who don't give up and they keep trying :) I am very patient with people who it doesn't come as fast because even though I play by ear, I am learning how to read more complicated stuff and classical stuff and it is the hardest thing I have ever done and it is not easy for people to teach me! ha ha!

That is so awesome that you decided to start playing again! It is good that you found a teacher that has experience with your situation. My grandpa had a stroke as well and had to completely re-learn everything. This does include the guitar. He was a great musician and played many places. He still can play a little bit, but not as much as he could when he first re-learned due to his age but it is still awesome that he learned again. I do write and read tab and have taught people songs that way so I am familiar with tab :) I encourage you to keep playing and hopefully one day you can hold the bow in the "right" position but, for now whatever keeps you playing! :)
