What an absolutely positively FINE weekend! The weather cooperated, the elbow cooperated 90% of the time, and the various jams I passed through and listened to were totally incredible.
I'll be chasing down tune names for the next month as they pop off my bow hither and yon.
Old friends and new. That's what the weekend was about. It's now gotten to the point that I don't get to play with everyone I wish to, since it's easy to get distracted or pulled into something on the way to a different campsite. So I missed playing with most of the Ithaca crowd, but met a bunch of people from various parts of New England and NY State who I hadn't met yet.
Then I got to play with some of my favorites. You know who you are. I spent much of the weekend with y'all.
One of the best features of this event is the Potluck on Saturday night in the barn. People do go all out to bring good, healthy and TASTY food, and it's spread across the gamut from salads through various main and side courses right through to some of the most delicious desserts you could wish for. My homemade coleslaw disappeared completely, so it must have been appreciated. Even better, the food stays out all Saturday night for nosh as you're moving from one place to another, so you can get a further energy fix. I also put a plate together for the cooler for Sunday, since there were plenty of leftovers and the variety was welcome after eating out of the cooler for a couple days.
I'm so glad festival season is back up and running. I just hope I can put together enough funds and time to make a few more trips this summer. I for sure will be making Lake Genero, since that's my local festival, but much more than that I can't plan.
One thing that occurs, and I think it worth mentioning is that with the return of festival season comes some hazard to our instruments. Make sure y'all take precautions out there, and keep a watch on your case humidity.

I posted a montage video a friend shot of this event that you can view from the video link over my avatar on the left. Take a peek and see what you missed. I know there are events down your way that are just as much fun. And there's a stellar event that M-D runs over in Arkansas that is definitely worth the trip.

Boy, I wish I could have been there. I can't for the life of me find anything close to that here in DFW. Had better luck in Colorado. Thanks for sharing. I'm off to view your video, I'm sure it's good too.

Look up Johnny Thomasson down your way, Susan H. He'll tell you where the house parties are gonna be, and he's a helluva fiddler, though more straight up country, unlike his uncle Benny, who he learned from (so did Mark O'Connor.)
