I got a new fiddle!!!!

So the short story is that I have been thinking a while about getting a 5 string...and now i have one!! I love how it sounds and the new things I can do with it like amazingly easy double stops and octave changes. I played it all day at the NH Ren Faire on Sunday and have definitely bonded :)

Now the very cool long story. I have  a great sounding (to me) 4 string. I had even tinkered with the bridge location ect to help it sound better (more ring) I was first thinking of converting this 4 string into a 5 string so I was asking a lot of questions at fiddle hell 2011. That's when I met Woodwiz...and he very kindly explained that there's an oddity about getting that extra ring with the bridge so far back...and I was losing some tone. I told him what I wanted in my fiddle sound ...basically everything...rich tone, volume, resonance ring, sustain....and he proceeded to adjust the position of my bridge, inner peg position and back length....I got to sit and watch and help hold the light (and ask a lot of questions). The result was just what I wanted. So I decided to ask Woodwiz to set up a 5 string for me. I got it on Saturday, not knowing how it would sound, and it is totally amazing!! Yay!!! I love how it sounds and so did other folks at the Faire. Big THANK YOU to Woodwiz for putting his incredible talent to good use! He has enabled me to play great music!

That's exactly it Rich. It's like making a new friend ...and then going on an adventure together.
There's a lot I can learn with this 5 string and I am excited to try and discover all the nuances of playing it.

Michael do'nt sell fiddles....HE lets YOU buy em, and if you convey to him whut YOU want thet's whut you'll get.
He's not just a great luthier but know salesmanship too.

You're welcome, of course, and thank you for the kind words! I do the best I can.

I think being a player myself makes a difference, and learning to listen a little bit is always useful.

Thanks to you, too, Doyle! Yeah, I don't push. If the fiddle's not good enough to do the selling, I'll either make it better or come up with another.
