I've been here in the Salt Lake City area for about 6 months now.
There is a pretty good contingent of Blue Grass musicians that are relatively easy to find but I have not been able to find where the "Old Time Musicians" are hiding out.
Yes, I'm one of those oddballs who has been bitten by the Old-Time bug.
Somehow, the whole concept of the way musicians in the Old Time community learn, play, and mak the music their own appeals to my nature.
Except for a few songs here and there, I don't care too much for modern commercialized, sanitized. ultra polished music.
I've already posted in the forum. Hopefully I will soon find some Old Time Jammers here in SLC.

I'm nowhere near Salt Lake, but the Utah Old Time Fiddlers are a pretty active group. Contact them to see what's going on where you are. The website is utaholdtimefiddlers.net/.
Also, it's not exactly in Salt Lake, but the Nevada state fiddle competition is held on June 15-16 in Wells, NV, right before the Weiser Contest, so a lot of the players stop there on their way to the National competition. Fabulous players, friendly atmosphere, not too far from Salt Lake City. I'll be playing in the NV only category.
Good luck with the music!
