I don't always take my fiddle to my Friday gig... sometimes just guitar and banjo.
But one of the residents was disappointed that I DIDN'T bring or play the fiddle last time, so I HAD to bring it... and that meant I really needed some practice time this morning.
To my surprise, I was getting better phrasing than usual... the left hand was coordinating with the right much better... both on slow tunes and fast tunes. I tried a couple of tunes I hadn't played before on fiddle too.
And the fiddle did well at the gig... maybe not as good as the practice time, but very satisfying.
I hope this isn't a flukey thing, 'cause now I'm a little spoiled!!!
Part of it may be a slightly more inspiring tone from "Booker"-
I TRIED to complete the tailpiece tuning tweak on Booker... took it off and adjusted the tailgut length, but it's STILL flat from where it's supposed to be... but once I reinstalled the tailpiece and strings, it's got a really nice something in there now... a bit more richness in all three lower strings, and the E string is still nice and clear. It still works on fast tunes, but sounds much better on slow tunes now.
Booker shouldn't be sounding this good... the Prims on it have been on there since AUGUST!!!
(Edit a few minutes later...)
Just dawned on me... another factor- warm weather finally came in... instead of spring weather, we've been having what was almost winter weather.... lots of cold rain.... sometimes mixed with small hailstones!!!
Now it's up in the '80's... finally I can go for a walk without a jacket.
It's sort of like we went from winter to summer with nothing in between.
Of course, our winter weather is sort of like some of YOUR Spring weather. So that's not a complaint... just stating facts! ;^D
I'm overheating, but Booker is liking it!
