Another proud observation

Posted by Andah1andah2 on Wednesday, July 27, 2011

I noticed something recently that I'm proud of. You know the fingerboard of well used fiddle begins to develop a buff shine where your fingers make contact on a regular basis. Some folks have the whole bottom half of the fingerboard all worn or buffed shiny. My fiddle started getting shiny in the typical places for first position. However lately I noticed that I'm getting shiny area where my fourth finger makes contact. I think this tells me I'm using it a lot more and with greater strength. It tends to be more under the A and E strings but that's ok. When I used to play banjo, I was proud of the worn spots my ring and pinky made on the head. A badge of honor in both cases.

I wish I could say that. I'm lucky I got a tiny bit of a shiny spot on pinkie E position.

Good on you for the pinkie shine!
