One of the new recordings I posted is Rainy Afternoon. This tune goes back to an earlier version that I wrote in 1989. It was originally called Potomac Reflections. I spent several weeks last year going through a big stack of my old music and this tune caught my eye. I had forgotten about it and It gathered dust for 22 years! I made several changes to the tune and renamed it Rainy Afternoon. As I remember, it was raining that day.
This recording of Rainy Afternoon came as a surprise to me in how the group plays it a bit faster than a ballad tempo. I am extremely happy with their version. It has a Hot Club of France feeling.
Please give it a listen. The tune has received some great feedback from several jazz & swing violinists I know.
For those who would like to work with this tune, a copy of the sheet music is available on my page at the American Music Center. My homepage has a link.
