I realized last Thursday that we really couldn't afford a 10x10 storage unit anymore. Our place is really small, so it's like the garage... but still, I decided to downsize back to a 5x10. I thought I could do it much more quickly, but it's taken SEVEN days.... and with that hanging over me, I haven't felt like I could afford to spend time fiddlin' when I needed to be sorting and tossing, and organizing and sweeping and...
my back aches, and my immune system thinks fresh pollen is NOTHING compared to the cocktail of old pollen in the dust I stirred up!!!
I have had two gigs where I fiddled some, but it was definitely showing some rustiness on the first one, so on the second one I only did waltzes at the end, and not many either.
And while the old storage is all clean and ready for the next tenant, and the new one is almost completely full... I'm not done yet... I've got some boxes and bags of stuff in the car to sort and mostly toss or recycle.
I'm hoping to get rid of even more stuff from the front of the new storage so I can kind of use it as a little practice room/office. Since my wife is home sick with a long term illness, I can't practice as much as I would like, so I've been needing an alternative place to play, especially in the mornings.
However, I did play Booker in there, and he didn't sound too spectacular. The banjo sounds good though... and we'll see about the other fiddles.
(later...)
Oh yeah... been playin' some. Old Time tunes are coming back easily... the Irish tunes, not so well.
The attempt at Irish Trad seems to be dead in the water... much less deeply imbedded in my brain, and much more dependent on daily practice.
And mudbug, yes... "ennervating"... that's a good description of how "sorting and tossing" makes me feel.

"Sortin' and tossin'" Oh, yeah. It's enervating.
