FiddleJammer, one of our fellow fiddlehangout members, has one of the best websites related to crosstuning I've been able to search out on the web. http://fiddlejammer.blogspot.com
She has numerous tunes (say 50 or so) played in festival settings while crosstuned.
Over the last couple of weeks I've been practicing almost exclusively in GDGD, ADAE and AEAE.
I love the new depth of sound coming out of my low to medium quality fiddle. I think the extra range of sound comes mainly from the sympathetic ringing of unfingered strings, however, it it is easier to do the double stops too.
The AOTFA (Arizona Old Time Fiddlers Association) Spring Campout is scheduled for this weekend of March 14 through the 16. I hope I can find some crosstuning groups to jam with.
Anyone interested in the Campout should check out the events at this web site: http://arizonaoldtimefiddlers.org/events.htm .
See you there.

Hey, thanks for the nice words, Jim. Cross tuning sure has made fiddling a joy for me. It's very rewarding to hear that the site has been helpful to you. That's why I do it... so that there'll be more happy folks to jam with. I'll have to skip your Campout this year. :-) Maybe sometime down the road. Not sure how much jamming you've done cross tuned, but that's where the payoff is. Picking up new tunes get's easier, in my experience. Hope you find some good jamming times. Cheers, Terri
