I have an arrangment of Salt Marsh Rag (one of my originals) that was written for 4 flutes and guitar. All of the flute lines are within violin range. So, it should work fine for 4 fiddles & guitar
If you'd like to see the score for this arrangement, go to my page at the American Music Center (link is below), click on the Compositions tab, and scroll down to the flute quartet & guitar version of Salt Marsh Rag. The score is in the PDF file. As a way to give it a quick try, make 5 copies of the score and everyone reads from their copy. Note: print landscape on legal size paper. However, if you really want to play this arrangement, please contact me and I'll send a set of parts. There's no charge for the music.

Please note that there are several versions of Salt Marsh Rag on my AMC page. There's a score for flute quartet & guitar, one for sax section & jazz rhythm section, and a leadsheet for the tune. Again, you'll want the one for flute quartet.
4 fiddles & guitar playing this arrangement should sound really good. Also, string bass or other backup instruments could be added (playing the chord changes on the guitar part).
A recording of Salt Marsh Rag can be heard on my page here at Fiddle Hangout. Please note that there are some differences between the recorded version (using the leadsheet of the tune) and the flute quartet arrangement. Nevertheless, if you listen to the recording it will give you a good idea of how the tune sounds.
If 4 fiddle players (who read music) and a guitar can get together, please give this rag a try. It was written to be fun to play. Please let me know how it works for you.
