Blizzardin'

Posted by David M. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Don't think I've EVER witnessed in person snow like we're having it right now.  Blizzards really suck.  Might have to have a snow day tomorrow and fiddle some.

The snow's just starting to come down north of Chicago and it's supposed to be quite the storm. I don't think we'll be going much of anywhere tomorrow either. Fiddle weather, it seems.

Dave, when I was a young'n I remeber a snow storm in Waterloo (all across the state I would imagine) that literally snowed us into our house. Drifts 10 feet tall across the front of the house and one about 15 feet in the road in front of our house. Mom has pictures of me and my sister and our dog standing atop the big one. Oh, and the snow fell in early APRIL!!! I think you are in for more than we are. Stay warm.

I hope y'all went out for bread and milk yesterday! That's what all of us Southerners do when it's supposed to snow. Milk sandwiches - yum!

We went out for bread yesterday and lots of other people were doing the same thing--loading up on staples and comfort food. And then there was this one guy. He was pushing around a cart with beer. Just beer. Piled so high he could hardly see over the top of it. I laughed. But who knows? Maybe he was preparing to host the Great Blizzard of 2011 Chicago Old Time Jam?

Rene, just another day here, this is a case where Sountern Maine gets the brunt of the storm...good fiddlin' weather, I figure that by the time we get our 1- to 24 inches I should have learned a whole new set of tunes.

Play Happy

I wish it had snowed here, at least you can shovel THAT. We had an ice storm instead. Over an inch thick on every dang thing.

I just finished shoveling. I'm seriously thinking about getting a longer-legged dog.

And yes, that thing-a-ma-jig in my avatar was going full bore today!
