Felt so good!

Posted by Sassafrassa on Friday, October 8, 2010

Last night, I picked up my fiddle after not playing for about a week.  I expected it to be traumatic, but actually it felt good and sounded...well...not bad considering  I hadn't played since last week.  Other than sore fingertips, it felt amazing to play again. Work had been especially difficult, and it was all I could do to just get home, cook dinner and collapse.  Last night, I had an extra hour before I needed to get dinner going, and I was glorious to play again!  I missed my girl!  She didn't punish me too much for ignoring her..she warmed up nicely after a few minutes of scales and a couple minutes of simple tunes to get my fingers going.

I got a string swing for my fiddle, and now she's proudly displayed next to my pie safe.  It looks really nice, and I hope that it incents me to pick her up and play more, even if only for a few minutes each evening.  Plus, she's going to keep "looking" at me this way.  Nothing like guilt to get me practicing! :)

Still considering getting a second fiddle for travel. I"ve been keeping my eye open at pawn shops and such for a beater.  Don't want it to look too nice...somebody might get sticky fingers.  Ugly is fine as long as it sounds good.

Thanks for reading.  I'm still out there giving it my best shot, just not able to post as often!

Hey, Rich! Thanks for posting. I think it's amazing since you had a stroke and are still able to play. Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration. BTW...friend request on it's way. ;)

Sure, you keep your pies in a safe so no-one will steal them, but leave the fiddle right out in the open, where any twarted pie theif can take his revenge.
