I was at the Watermelon Park Bluegrass Festival last weekend. This place is over the Blue Ridge from D.C., on the banks of the Shenandoah River. One of the hour sessions was an open contra dance. The management had Bruce Molsky lined up for the music. There was a pick up group of two guitars a bass and a banjo and me to back him up. I sorta got loosly invited in a conversation with Bruce an hour before. I just fiddled rhythm and Bruce did the real fiddling. Just fiddling along side him will allow some of his playing excitement to rub off on you. It made me want to become a real fiddler when I grow up.
