I have not been on in awhile, I do Air Conditioning work here in TX and it was a " HOT ONE " !. I just posted some pictures of my new fiddle I picked up about a month and a half ago, it is very nice !, Larry really invested lots of quality time in the instrument from start to finish, sparing nothing at putting the finest quality into it !. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as I am enjoying playing it .

Nice to see you back on. Your new fiddle sure looks nice! I was curious about the bass bar. Did your luthier tell you why it has a curve to it? Does it do something for the sound or does it strengthen the cross grains somehow? I was just curious because I've never seen a curved bass bar before. Besides the normal bass bars, I've only seen double bass bars and short bass bars. Sure looks like a nice instrument!

Thanks, it was a long .... hot .. summer in TX !. I have talked to Larry about the curved bass bar before, it is for sound , I am not sure of the exacts though, my fiddle is the first " new " fiddle he has installed one in however, he has installed them in ones that he has regraduated before. I am going to get him to explain it and I will let you know. How have you been ?, you were the first person I thought of when I posted about my new fiddle.

Been doing pretty good. Thanks. It was a busy summer and it flew by. Didn't get to play too much at all but I got the neck carved for my #4 fiddle. I've been varnishing it lately and getting ready to fit it up one of these days. I'm going to throw a couple of new pictures on my photo page tonight if I don't forget.
Yeah, I was just curious about the bass bar because I've never seen one curved like that but then again, I've only been at this about 5 years so I'm still a youngster when it comes to the whole luthier thing.
