Been struggling with my good fiddle for a few months since I put on Pirastro Evah Parazzi strings. It played very tight and bound up due to the high tension of these strings. I kept them on to try to justify the money I spent on them. Finally pulled them off and put on a used set of Helicores I had in my case. HUGE difference. It's like the tight tensioned Evah's helped it flex some tone out of it or break in some.
So, it's back to its old self: strong; focused; loud; and loose. Nice!

I remember trying something other than Prims on my main fiddle, and the sigh of relief when I put Prims back on it . . .
I'm glad you've got the right strings on it again!

Same fiddle you played at the Fiddler's Picnic? If so, I bet it was extra tight that day, what with the humidity and all.
Ooo. What was that hornpipe you played for me? I didn't get the name on my recording of it.
