I find it interesting that we take different amounts of time to grieve for the death of a loved one.
When my grandfather died recently, as sad as I was, I carried on the activity of rehearsing for a concert anyway.
Talking to one of my friends who's grandfather died, she took two weeks off.
Delving into the human mind is an interesting concept. How we all deal with grief is different to everyone else around us and is extremely varied.
I guess these are just things to be explored by psychiatrists and scientists.

Probably the best thing you could have done was to keep working towards your concert. I bet your grandfater would have wanted you to.

Thanks. I know he would have appreciated it. Especially when I played at his funeral.
