Vince's site is the grandaddy of all sites when it come to FREE content. He has spent over 5 years collecting and transcribing music from a number of obscure and dusty sources so YOU don't have to. At this site you will find the following collections, most transcribed into abc, noteworthy composer, and midi formats, along with a gif picture of the sheet music:
- O'Neil's Music of Ireland (1850 version)
- Allan's Irish Fiddler
- The Complete O'Carolan Collection
- Three different collections of old english Catches, Rounds, and Glees
- A large assortment of English Madrigals
All told, Vince has managed to accumulate close to 2500 tunes in his collection, all available for free download. If you don't want to spend a year downloading individual tunes, Vince has made his entire site's content available for purchase in data CD form. This is also how he keeps the site in operation, so PLEASE help support this enterprising individual! Vince is also a tremendously talented artisan working in knots and scrimshaw. His knot store is at www.frayedknotarts.com/ and it is well worth a look.
