Hi folks: Haven't been on here in a while. I have just heard about Stacy Phillips new book on the bluegrass fiddlers and Mr.Monroe's music. I ordered mine yesterday and am anxiously awaiting to see! I have all of his other fiddle books and highly recommend them . He certainly has done a great job and is to be commended. I have been fairly busy music wise. Someone asked me the other day who I am playing with now and I told them I am a floater. I play with whoever. Have a great day all and play some nice tunes! BJ

Thans BJ...wait, there's another BJ around here. You guys will have to figure out who is the real BJ! As for fiddling, what tunes are you sawing away? Thanks, Curt. (And I used to live in BC, the nice part of Canada....)

Now, now -- this is the world of computers! Notice that you use CAPITAL letters for your sign off, Bob. If sign-offs are CASE SENSITIVE there is no conflict!

Hey, Bob! Don't listen to Humbled about "nice part of Canada". He's always been a mite delusional about the left coast. New Brunswick is lovely!

Thanks Mudbug - I knew the minute I read that comment regarding British Columbia that he had to be !LOL I have been to the west and he's right,it sure is beautiful with the mountains. What are you playing these days Mudbug? I just learned a tune called point a pic. The tune never really appealed to me until I heard a fellow in Maine play it and he had a great way of playing it that was different from what I'd heard before and so I learned more his version.Forget the fellows name.He lived in Houlton area and died a few years ago.Not that old. Have a great day! BJ

Hey Bob, I didn't like "Wind that Shakes the Barley" much yet then I heard a rather adorned version and WHAM now I play it all the time. This sort of stuff happens, though I'd have thought about anything coming out of Maine wouldn't be too good....

Hi Humbled funny you mentioned the wind that shakes the Barley. I just learned that one a couple months ago. I had heard it off and on for some time and suddenly got the urge to learn it. Nice to hear from you Humbled. Life is full of surprises,Never know what one might hear out of Maine or N.B.!

Hey, Bob! I just learned quite a few new tunes. One is "In Memory of Herbie MacLeod" by the late, great Jerry Holland of Cape Breton. He had such a way with melody.

Mudbug I spent all day yesterday trying to get on my site.Although the pass word came in automatically they kept telling me it was wrong. Anyway to make a long story short,I changed my pass word and still last night couldn't get in but this morning I made it! Now I'm tired! Sounds like you are into the Scottish tunes Mudbug. I haven't ventured much in that direction. Sounds like lots of grace notes. I enjoy Huckleberry Hornpipe by Byron Berline a lot. Bailey's Breakdown and Sputnick are a couple I enjoy. Cuckoo's nest,Lord MacDonald's reel and teetotaler's reel. I like Sheehan's Reel but it is close enough to Lord MacDonald's that I don't like to play one right after the other if you know what I mean! I like Road To Columbus. I've seen the odd article on Jerry Holland but never heard him play. Now that I'm back on here We are going away for a week or so on Thursday. Hopefully get lots of music to feed on! Have a great day all and play a tune! BJ
