My friend, the caller, has nixed any idea for a dance at Coffee Coops' at this time.
The floor of the room we planned to use is old linoleum over concrete. Apparently it's too injury-prone for dancers.
Though I'm not yet giving up, this does put a bit of a kink in our squaredance plans.

Maybe you can find a bar with a dance floor willing to experiment with hosting a monthly Monday or Tuesday night dance. Those are a lot of fun if you can get the ball rolling. Here's a couple videos from Seattle and Bloomington:

The dancers should toughen up i feel. Whats a few injuries among friends for a common but worthy cause. This way the dancers would become the entertainment for the muso's an unusal twist on things don't you think :)

Injuries lead to lawsuits plus it would be irresponsible to be aware of the possibilities and let it go forward. A wooden floor is called for! Just a wooden floor.

Money will be found for a wooden floor. It will just take more time.

Come to Glenville today and see how their outside dance floor is constructed, heavy but brilliant and economical and large (24 x 60 feet). Maybe I'll take some pictures of it this year.

Just checked. You can see the assembly of the dance floor from home.

Oh... that is so sad.... you seemed so excited .... but like the others... I'm betting a dance floor is in your near future !!!

A dance floor is in the future, but maybe not the NEAR future. Since the coffee house annex is leased to the coffee house owner's non-profit art and music organization, we're going to try for some grant money for this. And that always takes time.
