Another sight that just manages to be beyond my

Posted by guitarjimcunningham on Friday, May 7, 2010

abilities to manipulate !

All music files that i record are mastered in the MP3 format !However this sight insists that I convert them to that format . I have tried to upload two seperate songs and gotten two idintical errors !

After a while you just get disgusted and no longer log onto a sight like that !

I would have liked to learn a lot about fiddle but the last time I logged on the system kept kicking me off with a "server error 500" .

Jim, I have had similar problems with this. I don't have the patience for it (not being computer savvy), but if my wife keeps at it, eventually she does it. I think it's magic. You need more pixie dust.

I have this same problem Jim. I think Eric could make it easier on us old PC illerates if he'd put his head to it. I would like to share my fiddle tunes of 70 yrs playing but I have given up on submiting Pictures, videos or fiddle tunes. Hilly<

It's probably the compression/filesize, either/or. Bandwidth is expensive, and if you have it as a high quality mp3 file of a whole very long tune, it may be too big a file. You can try redoing them to a different compression and/or just edit it down to a smaller sample using fade-ins and outs and see if that works. Eric has info on this somewhere on the site. I'd try searching on the forum.

Try to minimize the file size by only recording 1 minute if you can.

The jukebox here works best with a 128k bitrate. Might want to check to see that yours is not higher or lower.

Short may be a good idea, too.

You could put tunes in your own web space and link to them. That's what I do when I want to post sound samples with better audio quality.

I have a page at soundclick.com/guitarjimcunningham.
This last September I attended the Walnot Valley Bluegrass festival in Winfield Kansas and was pleased to find a simple and enexpensive addition to my "begenner's Fiddle" ; A practice 'mute' .Now the fact that I didn't know such a thing existed should tell yall that i am in fact a novice .The point being i can actually stand to listen to my fiddle -all the missing bass resonances now come out ! It cost me all of $2.45 WHAT A VALUE !
