I wanted to wait to post on this till I had something to post about! Friends of mine were encouraging me to set up my own fiddle rather than take it in,esp seeing as this was a $30 fiddle off eBay,and the fact that I want to continue learning how to repair fiddles and ukuleles. So I got a pre fitted bridge and set to work, checking the soundpost and restringing. I'm using a different chinrest than what came with it-it proved to be too uncomfortable so I switched it out with a smaller chinrest I took off of a 3/4 size fiddle I got as a luthier project. The tone is so much better than the one I got to see if I'd like playing & stick with it-a different 3/4 size. I'll be placing that one in my store to sell now that I have this one.
Aside from that,I'm also sewing my own ukulele gigbags and having a blast wth it. They're colorful, and best of all, machine washable. (I hate the way commercial gig bags get to be after having them a long time-dust mite haven!)
And yes,I also restored my Hilo uke I that was an auction win. (I need to make a gigbag for it!) Man it plays beautifully. Great tone,it's now my absolute best ukulele. Would love to know how old it is.
And I'm working out in the yard a lot these days-clearing out, planting tomatoes & bell peppers, lavender, petunias,Iris',whatever I find on Lowes "last chance" plant rack.
