Gosh, it’s been a long time since I’ve made a blog entry, so I thought I would take some time this afternoon and do so.
The two biggest things going on recently are, one, I played a contra-dance last night. Boy, what fun. It was a blast. I highly recommend it if you’ve never tried it. We had several fiddles, a guitar and a cello. The tunes we played were, Big John McNeil, Mon Papa, Maison de Glace, Petites Marionettes, Indian Point/99 medley, Louis Cyr, Lucy Farr’s, Soir et Matin (which we also sang in French). I hope to do that again, soon.
And, two on the fiddle building front, I have gotten well into the neck. I uploaded a couple of neck pics on my home page. The body is finished and I have a box. Today I carved the scroll around the first turn. Still well on course for Fiddle Camp, but this instrument has a new home already, when it is finished. My next fiddle will be mine, and I already have the Red Spruce from Nova Scotia, actually from my friend Otis Thomas. Then it looks like I have a 5-string for a client in Maine. In between I have two F-5 mandolin orders. Busy. Plus I have a novel due out, and a short story due, as well.
I will be taking a holiday in May to visit a fiddler friend and a very special person, and we have been exchanging tunes to learn together, and I look forward to that very much.
I hope everyone has been well.

That is a great list of tunes, you would fit right into our weekly session. I love Louis Cry, the chord changes in the second part are great.
