Lonnie Robertson is great!
That's it. That's the essence of the style I want to learn.

I don't think you'll find Lonnie Robertson on YouTube - and it's really to bad.
Lonnie Robertson was one of the Great Missouri fiddlers that played in what I consider to be the "Golden Age" of Missouri fiddling. He played widely competed in contests against the other great players of that period - Pete McMahan, Cyril Stinnett, Jake Hockemeyer, Taylor McBain, Lee Stoneking - to name the most prominent, though some were older than others. Of course, FHO member knew all of them and competed against them as well.
I think Robertson was from Southern Missouri. Learn to play like him and you'll be just fine...

Rob,
I might suggest listen to some clips from iTunes or his CD's on Amazon, just to hear a survey. There is something about many of the tunes (many of them hornpipes) of the Ozark style that are totally great.
For example, I always liked the tunes "Goodbye my honey, I'm gone" and "Willott's Hornpipe" both on some version of Traditional fiddling of the Ozarks. When I checked the Fiddler's list online, it listed that the former tune closely resembles the latter and another tune which is also cool called "Lantern in the Ditch". I don't quite know what makes these tunes similar or very very great sounding to me but they have what I want to play and so I will continue to search, but finding guys like Lonnie is very helpful for me.
