What do you get when your company hires a guitar player in the same room that you work. A mini jam session!!! Whoooohooo I now work with a guy who plays acoustic guitar. You wanna talk about a way to learn to play with others fast, this is it! I brought my fiddle to work today and he brought his guitar, our breaks and lunch was filled with music. Just one day of it and I feel it has already helped me with my rhythm. We worked on Faded Love the most, because he loves it and he said he really loves to hear a fiddler play it. <----and the crazy thing is ...he actually loved hearing me play it. I'll be derned. No one ever said that to me before. I almost felt like a real fiddler instead of a newbie!

Happy for you. I've had a guitar player work with me for the past 6 months and it does wonders for you rhythm, helps keep me in time (my timing has been big issue). I work with a bunch of musical deadbeats, who sure don't like old time or bluegrass.....heavy metal and rap maybe. Lucky you, enjoy, enjoy enjoy.

Most the guys I work with listen to loud noisy stuff they call music, luckily the new guy hired on loves old time music. Unfortunately he may be going to second shift : ( I will have fun while I can though!

You've been stepping into the flower garden a lot lately. Wish my work would hire someone I can play with. I'd never want to come home. Wow...maybe I'd work a full day then?? Doubt it..lol. Kudos Rob. You got me re-thinking to look for a guitar player to work on my timing with.

If this was Facebook, your wall would now read, "Cynthia likes this!"

Um, maybe he didn't "mistake you for a real fiddler" because you ARE now a real fiddler??? C'mon, you've been working hard at this, time to give yourself some credit.
Make sure you get his phone #, nothing says you can't meet up with him once in awhile outside of work. Heck, maybe he's even got kids your kid's ages or nearly.

LOL Cynthia... BJ he doesnt have kids my age, but he did and he wants me to teach my kids to play rhythm guitar....of course this means he is going to teach me first. We messed a little with his guitar today. I told him I will have my garage sale flee market eye open for a guitar. : )
Dee hasnt it been crazy lately, I go a year and a half with no one helping much at all then BOOM a fiddle maker and a guitar player both come into my work and life. I am pretty lucky right now and I am very grateful for it.

You know, I couldn't tell you how it was that I came to pick up the fiddle but every step of the way things seem to have fallen into place and I'm happier than I've ever been. The only thing that I can conclude is that I'm just supposed to do it and I feel that sense of gratitude that you mention, too. Wonderful thing isn't it? Just a few more months until Battleground. Hope you'll bring your guitar playing friend along. We'll need him at our jam!

There is nothing like a good guitar player to bring out the fiddler in all of us :-D New friends are good...they have friends.....and those friends have friends....pretty soon...you have a movement..... and you know what happens with movements..... :-D
Networking....making contacts...keeping touch....making time.....it works...it really does !!!
