The new avatar I'm sporting is a small bit of a larger painting done by Jane. And yes, it's me, though I didn't recognize myself when she first showed me the painting. Maybe because she gilds the lily more than a bit. But it's wonderful to have such a talented friend who sees me through such kind eyes.
I am wishing for that hat she gave me in the painting. It's not one I presently own! Nor do I own a turquoise jacket. Actually . . . hmm. You know who often wears turquoise? LOL!
I'm uploading the painting to my photos with proper credit, if anyone's interested in seeing the whole piece of work. Geez I truly love her paintings, and I'm tickled that I ended up in one.
In other news, my latest obsession is Dolf Skinner's Tune in G. Took me an hour to get it down well, and I've been playing it for two days straight. Though I have a feeling I slur a bit more than Banjo Billy does when he plays it. Though not a lot more. I gotta get better at that downslide though, it sounds way too cool for me to screw it up!
I blogged about Organic Music on my green blog, which is written more for an audience who maybe doesn't have a clue yet. But who knows? I'm getting around 50 people a day in to visit, and it's early days yet, since this is a fairly new blog, so maybe some will hear the call of my fiddle and join me.

Wow, what a beautiful painting! I'm sure she had a lovely subject to work with. This site never ceases to amaze me with the diversified talent that abounds.

Thanks for sharing that- I wondered if it was by Jane, and I wondered if it was you as the subject!!!
She does a nice impression of Impressionism!!!!

My first impression was that I might not be able to get used to it if you changed from your "cat and fiddle" profile photo. However, it is a very nice painting, fer sure, with a lovely facial expression. Now that the initial shock is over, I think it's perfect!

How so very cool! :o)

BC, you can see more of Jane's work in her photo album. And for those with a few bucks in the bank and enough fiddles, Jane's work is a really good investment. ;-)
An impression of impressionism? I gotta wonder what she'll say about that . . .
Tom, my cat Briggsy seems to have finally acclimated to my fiddle and no longer shoots dagger looks at me, no longer leaves the room, no longer wants to rip the fiddle into toothpicks with all eighteen claws and his teeth for good measure. Which means I must finally be getting better at this. He's even been known to stay on my lap while I'm playing, though he does take an occasional swipe at the moving bow. So it was time to change the avatar. I'm glad you like it.

It makes you look very demure, BJ.

I'll throw in with all that's been said. But I'm not sure about the meaning of that phrase "gilding the lilly". I'm afeared you'll have to hit me over the head with a Pb pipe to get me to see the light of that expression (heh-heh). Anyhow, I think you will now need to obtain some turquoise linens.

At last, an image.

New nickname fer ya BJ : "Swan Maiden".........lost in thought.

Demure? That's one adjective that has NEVER been used to describe me, LOL! Jane's painting may be, but the subject is NOT!
Yeah, maybe I would look good in turquoise . . .

I recognized the subject and the artist right off. Very nice.
Tuesday, March 16, 2010 @12:16:22 PM
Thanks Ed! You're one of only a half dozen or so on this site who would recognize the subject. ;-)

Well I finally got to see you without having to travel to PA/NJ.

I was wondering if this would flush you out of hiding!

Nice avatar! It is fun to change them periodically.
And I imagine those to be your colors, too.
Hat, scarf, vest and all, goose in the background - it all seems to go with the pickup truck and fiddle.

Oh, and I guessed right away that Jane had painted it.
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @9:17:14 AM
oh ho, BJ is NOT demure...
demented, decadent, dedazzled, delightsome, delineated, determined, de a deer a female deer, detoxified, dehypnotized, desocialized, deculturated, deprogrammed....yes, she is alla them (positive and admirable) states...but DEMURE?
oh i think not.
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @3:20:54 PM
Jane, you know me so well . . .
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @4:14:05 PM
Soooooo........is this titled "Decadent, Demented Girl with Goose" as opposed to "Demure Damsel with Duck" ?
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @4:49:14 PM
it's actual title is 'Leda Hot Russian XXX Love Girl With Swan Boy Never-Quit Whoopy Bird Hotcha Hotcha. Please provide Visa #, social security # and secret bank account password for good time."
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @4:55:44 PM
Isn't that supposed to be "a demure good time" ???
Wednesday, March 17, 2010 @6:57:16 PM
CRIKEY!!! : )
Thursday, March 18, 2010 @12:17:19 PM
oops sorry. Yes call Leda for a demure good time. A Cecil B. Demure production. Filmed in Demureacolor.
"You'll weep, you'll laugh, you'll feel demure" says film critic Roger Demurebert.
