With St Pattys a few days off & the equinox coming shortly thereafter,I'm amazed "Irish spring" is only used for soap! I'm working on more Irish tunes -recently aquiring the Roche Guide to traditional Irish tunes, which is loaded with ditties,I'm having a blast pickin em on mando and then trying them on fiddle. I've decided to take the 7/8 to a local luthier-while this is a disappointment on one hand as I'll be spending more money & somewhat do in my $30 wonder,I figure it's better to do it this way than be penny wise & pound foolish. I'll be having the soundpost checked, the bridge fitted, and new strings put on. Glad I have the 3/4 to knock around on while this one will be in the shop. So how many of you out there get your Irish playin on for St Pats?

I know it's a disappointment to have to put more dough into your new fiddle, but I can assure you that after a luthier gives it a workover it'll be a much better playing instrument, so it'll be money well spent.

I hope you are really happy with your new and improved fiddle. I'm heading to Flanagan's in "downtown" Conklin, MI this year for the annual St. Pat's day parade. The parade runs from one end of "town" to the other. It's supposed to last both blocks, but nobody in the last 50 years has made it past the first, and the parade always ends up in the bar, er pub. But they do have awesome Irish bands year round.

I will be playing Annie MacDonalds Piano on ST. Paddys Day,
and my best friend down in NJ will be playing The Snowy Path along with some Irish dancers, if the weather holds out.
I hope your fiddle works out for you.

While it is a disappointment,I wanted to be smart about it. Just got a new set of strings online,so when they arrive I'm hoping to just pay for labor. I've been humidifying it as well.Wow-gigs,parades,sounds like fun! L.A. canceled their annual parade due to the budget-looks like a "grass roots" parade might have to come into being. Speaking of weather,we're supposed to be hitting the mid 80's.......already???? Yikes! Had a ball being outside yesterday gardening.
