I was needing some vitamin D, so I walked outside a few minutes ago for a bit of fresh air, and to peek at the house down the street that was belching smoke all last night and causing a neighborhood ruckus, the whole street blocked up with fire trucks and lots of flashing red lights to upset my cats. Everyone got out safely, even a wayward cat, who was found cowering under one of the fir trees, which is the good news. The even better news is that despite there still being patches of snow in the shady spots, and mounds of soot covered snow still on the street, my crocuses have peeked their heads through the dirt cover, and will be blooming within a few days. YAY!
That just put such a HUGE smile on my face. I am SO ready for winter to be OVER!
I immediately came in and ripped off a couple of exuberant fiddle tunes, and the absolute joy just FLEW outta my fingers!

It's beginning to feel like spring in Chicago, too! But I saw winter as a good chance to woodshed and there's so much more I wanted to accomplish before it was time to play outside again . . . Ah, well!

Ah, so good to hear. Iowa's getting into thaw day 4 today and I can see part of my driveway surface!
